I'm having a problem with my usb ports on my m/b. I don't have the specs with me, but I have plugged many things in and nothing. This is a new box, so it hasn't worked since I got it. I checked in device settings and everything is ok, no conlicts with the hubs or the drivers, I can't figure out what the problem is. They are inabled in the bios, and I imagine set up correctly there otherwise xp wouldn't recognize them, right? Any ideas?

Are the USB ports intergrated or are they on a separate pci card? If they are on a separate card try to remove the card and reseat it then reboot your computer. If not go to device manager and try to update the driver for the USB's. I hope this is a little bit of help for you, Doc.

Try deleting your chipset drivers, and then reinstalling them. Most USB drivers are in the chipsets. Check for updated drivers long as you are at it. I once had the same problem, and I had to delete the old ones first, then reinstall. That took care of it.
Just installing the new ones didn't for some strange reason.

Before that, open the box and make sure the connectors for the USB terminals are plugged in properly.

They're integrated, I thought I mentioned that but didn't. Are there still plugs for these types? I tried updating the drivers but they were already the most up to date.

Ther eis one other odd thing actually, I only have 2 ports, m/b supports up to 6, but I have 3 listed in device manager...

Any other ideas?

Yeah, that's what I mean... I had a &*@%%&*
of a time getting it straightened out; I had the same thing, a bunch of references but only two physical, active ports, and mine were integrated also. You gotta delete&reinstall until it takes properly. I have a Soyo K7v Dragon with RAID, and it was a pain. Then suddenly everything starts working. Whewww.

Another thought.... be sure to go into your BIOS and make sure your USB is configured correctly! I had overlooked that until someone told me. I don't know what BIOS you are using, but the Soyo is really great-easy to understand and navigate.
