in my experience connecting my PC's to the broadband modem by Ethernet is much better. kill 2 birds with 1 stone and get a ethernet modem/router for internet sharing and future expansion.

Without a test you couldn't know or guess. My opinion is both are usually faster than the content that can be supplied. There are some tests that could show slowup's in the ethernet and are more common. Use perfmon. The USB is harder to test. Some NIC cards perform much better than others even though they are the same speed rated. Some offload computation to the card instead of the cpu using resources.

Jefro is correct. They are both faster than your broadband connection.

USB is hardware and ethernet is software. You probably mean RJ-45 NIC. Sorry for being fussy.
