Hi, I have a dlink dsl 200 adsl USB modem. Everything installed right, but for some reason it just stops receiving data everynow and then. I have noticed that it still sends data. Anything can trigger this, such as playing a game or sometimes just opening kazaa or msn. And when this happens i have no choice but to manually turn the computer off. And i have to wait a few minutes before turning on the computer or it does this straight away. Also every now and then when i turn the computer on it keeps popping up "unkown usb device detected" and goes away in like 30 seconds and detects it, weird. Does anyone know what is the problem, thanks.
I have a Gigabyte 7va, athlon xp 2000+, 512ddr, Leadtek GF4 Ti 4200 128mb, 40 gb HDD and I have all the latest drivers for everything.

Try uninstalling the drivers for the modem. Then uninstall the actual USB drivers for the ports. Then restart your comp with everyhing pluged in and XP should recognize and fix all programs. Also get all the XP updates from its site and the most recent drivers from the modem compamys site. Also do a virus scan. This is all troubleshooting.
