When you plug in a pen drive, digital camera or some such storage device into a USB hub the OS will pick it up and install it. You will have an ICON down by the clock showing that it is indeed installed and also so that when you are ready to remove the device you can right click the icon and click remove. That will bring up another window that allows you to Stop the device and safely remove it. SO it appears that is what you are seeing.
