USB Mass storage device

so we used my USB mass storage device to save some stuff cause my roommates computer because she's been having some problems (mainly a worm) and we were worried we would lose her stuff (just word docs and pictures are saved on the device) I didnt think of this then but I was wondering if it is save to put that device in my computer, or do i have a chance of getting the worm too? thanks for all your help

Plug it in and cancel the auto open window that comes up (IF any) open My Computer and right click the MSD and choose Scan for viruses, The wording may be a little different depending on your Anti virus software
