Comment:

My usb keyboard is not detected before Windows loads when the computer is starting up so I can't access my BIOS or format my hard drive with a boot disk.
However my keyboad is detected when Windows starts up.
I have Windows XP Pro installed.

Hi, give this a try, it's worked for other users.
1. Boot Windows XP with the USB Keyboard connected or connect it after Windows XP
has been booted.
2. Found New Hardware Wizard will report that it has found a USB Audio Device & will
automatically install default drivers for it.
3. Proceed to the REPLACING WINDOWS XP USB AUDIO DRIVER description below.
3.8 Replacing Windows XP USB Audio Driver
1. Boot Windows XP with the USB Keyboard connected or connect it after Windows XP
has been booted.
2. Open the Control Panel by clicking on Start/Control Panel.
3. Double click on the "System" program item.
4. Select the "Hardware" tab, then
5. Click the "Device Manager" button.
6. Click on the "+" sign next to "Sound, video and game controllers" to display of all of
these devices.
7. Double click the "USB Audio Device" item.
8. Select the "Driver" tab, and click the "Update Driver..." button.
9. When the Hardware Update Wizard reports it will help you install software for USB
Audio Device, select the "Install from a list or specific location (Advanced)" item and
click "Next".
10. On the next screen select the "Don't search. I will choose the driver to install" item &
click "Next".
11. Indicate to Windows where to look for the driver installation files (this is either a floppy
disk or CD-ROM supplied by the Keyboard manufacturer).
12. On the next screen select the appropriate Evolution USB Midi Keyboard item & click
"Next".
13. When the "software has not passed Windows XP Logo testing" message pops up, push
the "Continue Anyway" button to indicate that you want to continue the installation.
14. Windows will copy files and then two things will occur rather quickly:
a) The Hardware Update Wizard will display a screen indicate it has finished installing
the software for this device and requesting you to click the "Finish" button.
b) The Found New Hardware Wizard will now report it has detected an Unknown
Device.
15. Click the "Finish" button on Hardware Update Wizard screen.
16. On the Found New Hardware Wizard screen select the "Install from a list or specific
location (Advanced)" item and click "Next".
17. On the next screen select the "Search for best driver in these locations & indicate to
Windows where to look for the driver installation files (this should be the exact same
place you had Windows look for the previous driver software), then click the "Next"
button.
18. On the next screen Windows the Found New Hardware Wizard indicate that it found the
Evolution USB Midi driver which it will prepare to install.
19. When the "software has not passed Windows XP Logo testing" message pops up, push
the "Continue Anyway" button to indicate that you want to continue the installation.
20. After Windows copies the driver files the Found New Hardware Wizard will display a
screen indicating it has finished installing the software for this device, click the "Finish"
button.
21. Close the Device Manager display by clicking on the "Close" button, then the "X" in the
upper right hand corner of the Device Manager display, and then the "OK" button.

A+Tech,

Under the sound, video and game controllers there is no USB Audio Device. There is only Audio Codecs, ESS 1969 PCI AudioDrive, Legacy Audio Drivers, Legacy Video Capture Devices, Media Control Devices, Standard Game Port, and Video Codecs.

Under the USB Controllers directory I have SIS 7001 PCI to USB Open Host Controller, USB Composite Device (This is where the keyboard is connected), and USB Root Hub.

Thanks For Your Help.
