I rebooted my comp and didn't notice i left my usb key plugged in. After the splash screen, a chkdsk-like screen flashed for a few seconds, and then went to logon. I quick pulled out the key and rebooted. All went normal. In the usb drive, i found the file BOOTEX.txt, reading:

Checking file system on F:
The type of the file system is FAT.

The volume is dirty.
Volume Serial Number is E4DE-3250
Windows has checked the file system and found no problems.

129734656 bytes total disk space.
8192 bytes in 1 hidden files.
4096 bytes in 2 folders.
29982720 bytes in 21 files.
99739648 bytes available on disk.

2048 bytes in each allocation unit.
63347 total allocation units on disk.
48701 allocation units available on disk.

What's this mean? Is this just normal? Or should I just remember to pull out removable devices like this on reboots? Thanks.

Yes it is normal that Windows checks the drive. Leaving it in wont do any harm to the stick, all Windows is doing is scanning it to check for errors on it.
