Hallo,

Since I reinstalled my Windows Xp sp-2, my USB ports don't work anymore. Even if there is nothing connected, it sais that some unknown USB device is connected.
When I try to connect USB sticks or digital camera, nothing happens...
I tried to completely uninstall all USB drivers, but when the system reinstalls them, it also finds the unknown device and nothing works...
(Btw. I do have 2x front USB, 2x "usual" USB, and 2x PCI-USB ... none of them work)
Any ideas?

Thanks!

Hi,

Re install the chipset drivers for your motherboard.

Without these USB is unilikely to work at all.

Then install XP SP 1 or SP 2

Also when you remove the usb devices from the device manager make sure nothing is plugged into them when you reinstall them (and best to do it from safemode and even shut down your virus scanner so as to have as little chance of conflict as possible)
