I just got a new external drive enclosure that's supposed to work for cd-roms/cd-rw/hd. It works fine for hard drives, connect the ide cables, plug in the usb cable to my computer and it detects fine. Using a cd-rom drive doesn't work however. No new drives show up in my computer/windows explorer. In the device manager under disk drives, there is a "usb 2.0 storage device usb device". When I go to its properties and try to populate the volumes on the drive, nothing shows up. When I click populate, the drive light on the cd-rom starts flashing, so it's trying to do something. I've tried connecting the drive to the computer with and without a cd-rom inserted, and it still doesn't work. I've looked for usb update drivers (there were none), and I've looked for software for my enclosure, it's a bytecc ME-320U2 (www.byteccusa.com), and all it says is WinXP will install everything automatically, so no drivers or software are provided. any help would be appreciated, thanks!

Have you undertook the Service pack 1 update and subsequent updates, the updated USB drivers are in there and not available seperately...............

As x86 says, you need SP1; UNLESS you have USB 2.0 drivers for the CD-ROM. The enclosure does not require drivers, but the CD-ROM does. I am assuming your computer supports USB 2.0.
