Can anyone explain why my printer, scanner and any other usb device I plug in is not recognised by WinXP?
1. CMOS has All USB support enabled.
2. Device Manager shows all USB items/ drivers installed and no conflicts... ALL items working correctly.
3. Service Pack 2 Installed and all worked well until yesterday.
Nothing USB works.
I have diconnected all but ONE USB item incase of a power problem....nothing.
I have opened up the computer and checked wiring...Nothing.
I have unstalled the items in the device manager in order to have windows XP refind and reinstall....NOTHING.
YET ALL LOOKS OK IN DEVICE MANAGER.
Could windows have done an update and replaced files to cause this??
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance to all who answer.

Some quizs...
1. Do you use hibernate or standby?
2. Do you use USB hub?
3. Do you have enhanced USB host in the Device manager?

Have you installed the appropriate software/drivers for each peripheral?
Life is more painless for those who are brainless.

Try a 'Repair' reinstall. You will lost all Microsoft updates (which 'might' be a good thing).
Do yourself a favor BACKUP!
