Comment:

I have been reading through many posts, and I dont seem to find something that relates to the problem i have been facing. I have recently formatted, and installed windows xp and downloaded sp2 right away. Everything has been working fine, except that when i plug in any USB device (ipod, and numerous flash drives) the device is detected with the correct name, but when it goes to automatically install, it fails to find the drivers. I have also tried downloading drivers for that device from online, but still no luck. Says it cannot find the drivers for the device even when i tell it to search the folder where those drivers are located. Then the device is listed in the device manager with the yellow exclamation point. Thank you for reading this.

Have they worked before format ??
Before format and with SP2 ??
Or before format without SP2 ??

Was SP2 installed after the USB devices were installed ??

If that was the case, you could uninstall SP2, then install the devices, then install SP2.
How to remove SP2

That is about the limit of my thinking.

BIOS is not the same thing as motherboard drivers.

Motherboard drivers enable your operating system to "drive" motherboard devices like USB ports, LAN, audio etc.

Hmmm, I didnt install those then. How do I find my model motherboard? Only by opening up the computer?

The SONY website may have them in their download section. You will need to know your computer's model number. It may be on the back of the computer.

I installed it all except for... "System Components. Sony® Shared Library"

Does that sound like the problem?

I installed that one when i got home from work, and no luck. My guess is that it has to do with windows. it's not an activated version yet.
