Hi.

I'm on Windows XP and I can't seem to find the driver for USB2.0. When I plug in my iPod to my computer it gives me a message near the taskbar saying that I plugged a high-speed device into a low-peed port or something.

Where do I get the USB2.0 driver? Does it come with WindowsXP Service Pack 1a or 2?

Now with the stupid automatic updates thing, I can't seem to download the Service Pack and the Service Pack by itself.

You probably have USB 1.x... but to upgrade to 2.0 you can't just download a driver. In order to get USB 2.0 you need to remove the 1.0-device and buy and install a newer one... it's not a question about drivers...

Do what I have done, about $40 gets you a PCI USB 2.0 card with four ports, pop it in & it will be recognised automatically & away you go. It's well worth the money for the increase in speed that you get.
Google & you may get it cheaper.

My ports are 2.0...

But they're running at 1.1? They used to run at 2.0 before I reformatted.

Hi,

If you have reformatted.

Did you re-install the motherboard chipset drivers as soon as you installed your operating system.

You need these as well as XP SP 1 for USB 2.

In Device Manager USB will say Enhanced if you have USB 2.

You may have USB 2 ports available but without the drivers and XP SP1 will not run them at USB 2 speeds.
