Comment:

I have XP Pro with SP1 installed and everytime I plug a USB 2.0 device in I get the message you have plugged a high speed device into a non high speed port. I have an Abit IS7 motherboard with USB 2.0 ports which are enabled. I downloaded the 2.0 patch from microsoft and still no 2.0 drivers are listed under USB in the device manager.

In Device Manager, does it show enhanced USB Controller or something similar?

I would guess that the 2.0 card is not properly installed. Do you have a CD for the USB 2.0 card? Or are the card drivers included on your recovery disk? If not, identify the manufacturer of your card, download the drivers, and reinstall the card. You should have reference there to "Enhanced USB" or "Standard enhanced PCI to USB host controller". Are you getting any yellow marks in device manager?

I have one yellow mark for a usb controller. There are no drivers for the USB 2.0, SP1 takes care of that. I downloaded a USB 2.0 driver from microsoft anyways which did nothing. The card is not really a card, It came with the motherboard which plugs into the board in addition to the 4 onboard 2.0 slots.

You need the mobo disk which would have the correct drivers for your hardware.

GoodLuck

I think what keef444 was trying to say you need the motherboard/chipset drivers from your CD. That's quite a new mobo, and even with SP1 your OS may be bit behind the times. IF you let Windows handle the chipset driver when you installed, then try searching your CD (or even the net) for more upto date ones.
