I have a process named urlvss.exe that is running on my system. What is it? I found it in the registry but could not remove it, it kept on returning. Is it bad? I googled it and found nothing about it!

Don't know what it is but you may be able to remove it in the safe mode. Back it up before deleting it.

Please post back within 24 hours or I will delete the post from my follow up list. Thanks. It would be a courtesy if you would post back and let us know if the fix worked or not.

Nope, safe mode wasn't helpful. I renamed the e.exe to .zzz and it restarted again. I see that this process is taking up CPU. Doesn't anyone know about this and if and how it can be removed??

Ok! i will help.

just go to windows update homepage and search for ad-aware... download this and run it. what youre dealing with is add/spy ware. this program will wipe all problems processes off the computer.

Well - I have run CWShredder, and Ad-Aware SE, but that doesn't help. It is still in the registry and is still taking up CPU (~78%). Isn't there any help?

I have McAfee installed but can't get it to load the updates! I get an error that says "A network error was encountered. Please try later." I have asked McAfee tech support and been online with them for over two hours yesterday. The last suggestion they gave me before having to cust the connection and reboot wasn't any help. I also had Symantec Norton 2005 AV on it but it wouldn't let my Floppy or CDRW work. They didn't have any answers for their problem either! This is a Compaq computer with Windows XP pro on it.
