I have a HP Officejet G85 - All in one printer and i have a major problem.
We got a new one given to us through warranty and we we have connected it it have stuffed everything up.
I need to uninstall everything and reload the software but when i got to add/remove programs the hp officejet series is there but the is no button to click saying change/remove??????????
what do i do????
It wont let me install on the top either because the installation disk comes up and says cant install because there is already an installlation on the PC???????/HELP....

You need to manually delete it. But doing this will of course leave invalid entries in your registry, so you need to use a registry cleaner. I use Tweak-Xp's Registry Cleaner, or Norton Utilities WinDoctor, but there are a load of free ones on the net.
So once you've manually deleted said folder, run a registry cleaner, then reboot and reinstall.

Oh, Tweak-Xp will also clean up the Add/Remove programs list, because HP's software will still be lurking in there after deletion.

On my hp i had to go to hp and use their uninstall download program in order to install anotherprinter. Then the new one installed with no more problems.
good luck, rc

I agree with rc You may also check and make sure it is compatable with your windows system. When you go to the HP site look for the right drivers for your system. Also, check for any updates for your printer.

I have an HP G85 and when I got my new XP computer the direcgtor software I was using in 98 was not compatible so I had to get the XP version from the HP site and the download was horrible. It messed everything up for some reason, HP said possibly there was something wrong with the file on the site. They walked me through uninstalling every piece of it and sent it to me on disk. While I was waiting for the disk I used XP's print and scan function and that worked fine with the G85.
I just want to say the G85 is a work horse. We paid $800 for it 5yrs. ago and I wish when they got rid of them I would have bought another because hubby has to make at least 50 copies a night and this thing has never failed us.

Thanks everyone for your help but i found out the problem and uninstalled it by running the HPUninstaller file from the start menu. there was a range of numbers in the target of the shortcut depending on a folder in the hp directory and the numbers that were there it couldn't find that folder, So i changed the number to the one that was in use.
