Comment: Hello, Can anyone help with this please? Can XP Home be upgraded to XP Pro? If so, is this done by using the XP Pro CD and choosing the upgrade option (if there is one) or is there a separate product used for this upgrade? Many thanks, Qcumber

Reply: (edit)There is an upgrade disk available. If you have the full version, backup / save, all your important stuff on cd, spare HD or other. Then give it a try.

Reply: (edit)Bit why do you want to upgrade. Anyone in a position to take advantage of the add facilities in Professional would know the answerer to that question anyway. The only difference with professional is that it allows you to join a domain on a corporate network and also has extra security that requires. For the home user and even a small business operating a peer to peer network, there is nothing in XP professional that warrants the extra expense Stuart

Reply: (edit)Hi Qcumber ============================================ You can do an unattend installation of XP: Insert a legit XP-Pro CD into your CD-ROM. If the Welcome to Microsoft Windows screen comes up, click EXIT Leave the CD in drive. Now click START RUN Type into the Open Line: D:\i386\winnt32.exe /unattend And click OK. If your CD-ROM is not D, then replace D with your CD-ROM letter. The only question that will be asked is the Product key. If you just reinstall same Windows, it will ask NO questions at all. Now you need to activate. All settings and installed programs will be saved and unchanged. Cheers de Peter
