Is this possible? A friend gave me his copy of Xp Pro in exchange for Windows 98. Can I upgrade my copy of XP Home?

If it is the original CD I think so. Otherwise, you may have activation problems.

I dont think its possible to upgrade xp home to xp pro unless you purchase a special home to pro edition from microsoft.

Yes you can upgrade home to pro. Just pop in the cd and follow the on screen instructions
