CPU/Ram: 4gb

I would like to download the sp3 but have heard that there are bugs doing this with AMD proc.If I do download the upgrade will it also change IE 6 to IE 7 automatically?

1. For the AMD question, I don't think M$ has yet offered a fix for XP SP3 to install on computers powered by AMD processors.

2. For the question of IE6/IE7, XP SP3 Release Notes stated the following:

Windows XP SP3 does not include Windows IE7, although Windows XP SP3 does include updates to both IE6 and IE7 and it will update whichever version is installed on the computer.

The AMD bug does not apply to all computers with AMD CPUs, only OEM machines that have XP installed via an image that was created on an Intel machine. This is am OEM problem, not Microsofts.

I have been using SP3 in an Athlon-XP since its release with a retail version of XP with no problems at all.

BTW, What brand of PC are you using? IF you have HP and it has AMD processor, the fix for SP3 installation is below.

No they don't. You can if you wish, they are all documents in different formats that you may not may not want to read. Might be a good idea to read them though in which case you only need one. PDF is probably the best option of you don't know what the others are.
