Here is the maker of my motherboard:

Endeavor Pentium II 440EX Micro ATX Motherboard with Integrated Components

Here is the make of my processor:

Intel Celeron PII 300MHz w/ 128K Cache CPU

And now I have another problem, I have added 256 meg for a total of 512 meg. but my computer only recognises 256 meg. When Before I upgraded it, I had 288meg, and it would register all of my memory. Why dosen't my motherboard recognise it? It is the same specification as my other 256 chip, but my motherboard does not recognise it. Could it have somthing to do with my BIOS being dated to 1998? Where would I get an update?

My chips are made by Kingston, and Micron (the manufacturer of my PC). Please help. I wish to upgrade my machine desperately. Thank you.

As for the memory chips, have you tried switching them around ? Did you go into the bios to see if both modules are recognized there ? As for upgrading, not much you can do with an older 440 motherboard.. I suggest going to either neocomputers.com or cyberpowerpc.com and buying you a barebones kit, as you can get them *very* cheap from either of those places. To be more specific, I suggest getting an Intel 845WN motherboard with a Pentium 4 chip. The chip itself depends on how much you are willing to spend, but they are all pretty fast. After also selecting what kind of ATX case you want in particular, you should not end up spending more than 400 dollars, and you can easily bring over your old hardware, including your memory modules, as the particular motherboard I mentioned, supports SDRAM. Hope this helps. =)

I have tried switching the places that the chips are placed in, I have switched the BIOS to use a base unit of 256 meg instead of the 64meg, and where would it specify if it recognised both memory chips?
