I have to computers,
the first one is :
Hp Pavilion 8575c Pentium 3 550Mhz
384 MB Ram
Windows Xp Home

the second one is:
Dell Dimension 8100 Pentium 4 1.7Ghz
512 MB Ram
Windows Xp Professional

My question is can i take the processor out of my Dell computer and put it in the Hp Pavilion Computer, with out changing the motherboard?????? Since i think Hp motherboards, are prepriotory motherboards????

If i am able to do the swap, to a P3 to a P4, I will than put a 2.8GHZ Processor on my Dell Computer which had the p4 1.7GHZ chip..........??? I was wondering if this is possible also...?

Any websites or help will be greatly appreciated, thanks again

In a word, no. I doubt very much if the old HP mbo would support the P4. Cache size, speed, type, bus width, speed, type, etc. etc. etc.

The speed of the CPU has to match the speed of the mbo that it sits in.

Of course if you have money to burn, try it. All you can do is burn up a few hundered dollars of CPU.
