I have XP Pro. It says that it has downloaded updates, and when I try to install them, it finishes and says that this update could not be installed. I don't care why it didn't install, I just want to know how to stop it from appearing and closing my connection to the Microsoft update server. Per posted tihs long time ago. Copy the following to Notepad: regsvr32 /s wuapi.dll regsvr32 /s wuaueng1.dll regsvr32 /s wuaueng.dll regsvr32 /s wucltui.dll regsvr32 /s wups2.dll regsvr32 /s wups.dll regsvr32 /s wuweb.dll Then save it as wu_fix.bat then run the .bat file and reboot. Try Window update again and it should download and install OK after this. Have not seen Per in along time here, he had good fixes.

per did have some great fixes and is surely missed from the forum as well as some other great help support people that have quit coming around. It is the disadvantaged who habitually elect Democrats on the belief of personal change--- yet they remain disadvantaged.
