I have Win XP Home with Installshield Update Manager 3.0. Is it okay to give the update manager full access to my PC and let it do whatever it needs to do automatically in the background or do I have to monitor it for any reason?

That is the best way. Let it update in the background.

My opinion is the opposite of FJ. I would rather do it myself when I want to update softwares. For all its worth, CLICK ME to read About the Update Manager.

The question is not what you would do, but what they should do.

If someone is asking that question, then they are probably not programmers or have detailed knowledge of what security issues need taken care of, so I think they should allow the experts at M$ to update the OS as needed.

Don't you really feel that way too ?
