Comment:
I have a usb instrument interface. The driver is unsigned and after a couple of tries it will load and work fine. I even set the device as the default recording device. Other devices with signed drivers work fine. This is a brand new HP 7000 series laptop. When I turn off the laptop and disconnect the device, the next time I want to use it, I have to load drivers again??? Do I have to turn off the signature requirement or what?

Here are your options. You can set it to Ignore and see if it loads on the next reboot. If that doesn't help return it to the previous setting
Under File signature verification:
Ignore to allow all device drivers to be installed on this computer, regardless of whether they have a digital signature.
Warn to display a warning message whenever an installation program attempts to install a device driver without a digital signature. This is the default behavior for Windows.
Block to prevent an installation program from installing device drivers without a digital signature.
