Hi, All,

As I'm using Open Office and MS Digital Image now, I've un-installed my MS Works Suite 2003 and would like to give it to a friend. Do I have to unregister or un-validate it before doing so. If so, how do I go about it?

Ted.

Being that it is a program and not an operating system, you will need to read what the End User Licensing Agreement says.

In most cases that I have dealt with concerning Microsoft programs, you cannot transfer the program unless it is installed to the operating system attached to a computer and the whole computer was transfered or sold along with all software installation discs.

I don't think that Microsoft allows the product itself to be used and then transfered to another party, then installed again.

There is nothing that you should do or could do except let the receiving party have the installation discs and activation license and try to install it. If it works.....great....if not then let them contact M$ and convence them that they aquired it intacked and they are knowingly convinced that it was fully uninstalled from your computer and see what happens.

Does anyone ever read the eula?

Office 2003 eula item 14 clearly states under "transfer to 3rd party" you can transfer to another person as long as you have removed all from your system.

Ted if you go into help and about there is a link to read your Works eula. I suggest you review it.

Never has there been a way of "unregistering" ms software.

Example of Oxymoron:
Person who is pro life and anti sex education.
Education is key to prevention. Prevent conception you prevent abortion. Abstinence training clearly isn't working.

Hi, Wanderer,

Thank you for your reply. I, like many others, am guilty of just skipping quickly over those eula files. I'll be more careful in future.
