Comment:

My CPU is not being properly recognized by my computer. I set the freq. to 133 MHz in the BIOS and the jumper on the MB, but the CPU runs at 800 MHz. I had it up to unrecognized at 1.4 GHz at one point, and then it went back down. How can I fix this? I'm running an AMD Athlon XP 1700+ on an MSI 6382 Micro ATX motherboard.

The Motherboard does not support Athlon XP processors.

Socket A for AMD ® Duron™/Athlon™ processor.
Support 600MHz up to 1.5GHz processor

Only duron and Athlon.

There is a difference.

Maybe check with the Motherboard manufacturer for a BIOS update that will let it support Athlon XP processors.
