My system specs amply exceed any possible requirement XP or Unreal Tournament might have; I have XP-specific drivers for my KyroII 4500 card, and the DirectX 8.1 that comes with XP. With software rendering, UT works fine, but when D3D is on (works great undfer 98SE) withing a second or two of startig the intro animation, some Direct3D error or other always occurs. Any ideas please (given that I think this IS the newest DirectX, and that some people have UT working with D3D on UT)?

Microsoft needs to get their act together with windows xp. My need for speed 2 did the same thing and it was because windows xp uses drivers for graphics that are slow and lock up. So i would try to download different graphic card drivers at driverguide.com and if that don't work email me and i will give you a different route.

ok i had the same prob with UT set your video card settings to direct X, dfx will not work cause it lookes for glide2x.dll. you have to set it to direct x in the game other wise it will default to 3dfx which casues problems

XP SUCKS. It wont play unreal. I cant set it to direct x. I have xp pro, 1.2 athlon and a voodoo 4 4500 card.

I have the same problem with D2 & D2x. I have a geforce2 and my fps goes from 130 when no-one around to 5-15 when im moving in the game???
Anyone can help me

I have problems with UT also - when it starts with glide splash screen is shown, then UT opens and a small window that just says ERROR - i click ok and UT runs but in a window!!!
No matter what I do the damn thing is always in a window - i tryed use direct3d but as with all the other drivers the screen remains black and the music plays---AHHHHHH
