My sister-in-law's computer keeps getting this message when she tries to start it up.
unmountable-boot-volume
If this is the first time seeing this, restart. If this appears again: check to make sure hardware or software is installed properly. If either is new, ask for any Windows updates that may be needed.
If the problem continues, remove hardware or software, Disable BIOS memory options such as caching or shadowing. If you need to use safe mode to remove or disable components, restart, press F8, select Advanced Startup Options and select safe mode.
Okay, I did all of the above and even in safe mode, this message still keeps appearing. I tried to go to a previous day's worth of work and kept getting this message. What I need to know is how do I get to my safe mode without this coming up so that I can possibly remove whatever component may be causing the problem and is there anyway to tell me what component may be causing the problem? My guess is that by this being an unmountable-boot-volume problem, her computer hard drive is so full that it doesn't have enough power to even start up Windows.

Google for "unmountable-boot-volume", you will get many hits. Here are a couple of links, including one form Microsoft.
