For a while now, when i try to reinstall windows xp, i get the unmountable boot volume error. I have tried to follow the other posts, but they havent worked. when i boot to the xp installation cd, the computer loads all the files (the blue screens). Then, when they are finished loading, i get the unmountable boot volume error. this error appears before any options are available for setup. the second set of hex numbers are 0xC0000032. i tried the recovery console and it froze during it. how should i fix this?
btw, i followed the microsoft knowledge base thing and it didn't work for me. this error does not happen when i start the computer- it happens when i try to install xp

Do you use other OS's on that drive? If so what OS's do you use?
Do you have the boot sector virus protection option enabled in you BIOS? It's possible that when XP tried to run it couldn't re-write the MBR (which it does habitually every time it starts).
