Here's the problem I'm having, but first let me tell you what I'm running:

Hp pavilion 521n
asus mobo
xp pro....all updates
I am experiencing random shutdowns and generally strange behavior from my computer("my computer" or "calculator" will open for no reason etc....)and generally sluggish performance.I also get two random beeps.....not at boot either.....just two beeps.I can't say they're fast or slow, just kinda' in between.I know thats vague, but it's the best I can describe it.I have run every antivirus/malware known to man(just about)both in and out of safe mode.Motherboard monitor shows a general temp of 121-123F .I don't know if thats normal or not.I've gotten different opinions about it.If I recall correctly, that about what the temps always been.I checked the mobo diodes(?) for any visible signs of something amiss and saw nothing.
("my computer" just popped up in the middle of this....it's getting more frequent. It turns off my numbers lock and launches calculator over and over.
It doesnt crash.....it just says "windows is shutting down").

I'm am completely at a loss.

twistedvincent, find the bios beep codes @:
http://www.computerhope.com/beep.htm I'd first figure out why you're getting the beeps and go from there.

I'm not sure how to interpret the phoenix beep codes......it's two....relatively short beeps....at random times.

Even with the AV/ASW ran it sounds like you have some kind of virus or backdoor program running. Have you tried a system restore to a date prior to this occuring?

I thoughtr the same thing about the malware.....and I did try a system restore. If you're intrested,I put my computer thru the malware removal paces as listed in "majorgeeks".Plus a bunch of other scans.I also scanned for rootkits as well.As I was typing this,my computer beeped twice.....I have no idea why.
