Also,
windows\system32\spool\drivers\w32x86\2\wavs.exe
Does anyone know what it means and how to fix it? At the same time i cant download any updates or install anything, i get fatal errors.

I would suspect lots of spy and adware. Try

Spybot S&D

Make sure to up-date it before using it.
1-Check for problems
2-Fix Problems
3-Immunize

People don't realize that ALOT of spy and Adware is included in Windows XP...no-one tells you that when you buy it, but that is usually when the problems start...Spyware can disable your PC after a short while if not removed.
Also a good Firewall is always good too.
Here's a good free one I use:
Sygate Personal Firewall

i have spybot, adaware, zone alarm, also did trend micro online scan and downloaded pc-cillin. all clean. i do disk cleanup almost daily, cleaned cookies regularly, downloaded and did several other scans and also a system scan. all clean, aside from some registry errors, some i took care of manually the others i left because of uncertanty. i had avast running, but found it to cause a few problems. So thats gone. i also have hijack this.
So after all this im stuck. i was having no problems until i recently moved and when i got set back up i could not get my printer going, uninstalled and installed several times, with no luck. even tried installing a new printer and cant do that either. then i start getting all of these errors. my system restore wont work either.
i havent seen the 'windows\system32\spool\drivers\w32x86\2\wavs.exe' error again, but the other error ' cant read from memory is occurring alot, with different programs like explorer, iexplorer, i have also found i cannot get updates from the windows site, at first it wont finish downloading the file to get the updates and now it claims i have bits off, but i dont.
i know this is a long list of things, but it may help. nothing shows in my error log to pinpoint anything.
did i confuse anyone? lol. any ideas would be appreciated. i do have more ram coming today to install.

You may have to try SFC Scannow
Be sure to have your XP disc ready.

i installed more memory this morning. i also ran sfc scannow. it ran and shut off when done, it didnt ask for the xp disc. after all this im still getting program errors.
they seem to be mostly explorer exe errors and from looking at my error log that seems to be the major thing- shell32.dll and a few other dll errors.
Also i found there that my hp deskjet preloaded printer driver was removed. how do i get that back or is it possible?
This is crazy alls i did was shut the darn thing off and move. but also went from satellite to cable. hard telling what the satellite did.
i really appreciate your help and will try any other ideas.

Sorry you can't sort that out....here's another alternative Fix EXE problems in XP

I'm not quite sure of your printer problem, but hopefully this solution will work for you...I know how frustrating it can be.
