I have just bought a ripflash dx mp3 player. On trying to install the unit through usb it is listed as an Unknown Device, and when I try to load athe driver it cannot find the software. I have been through the same setup on my friends computor and it runs fine. As soon as you start the new hardware wizard, searching for the new driver on his computor the description changes from unknown to Ripflash Usb Device. This apppears to be the problem when I try to load the driver on my system as it does not change it just stays as Unknown Device. I checked the driver description on my friends computor and found that the driver was located in the system 32, drivers file. I checked to see if it was in my system 32 file and it is. Therefore I assume that the driver is installed and in the right place, its just that the hardware wizard does not recognize the mp3 unit as requiring that driver ? Any Ideas ? Thanks Mark

Did it come with an installation disc? You'll probably need to install the drivers from that first.

Is USB enabled on your computer ? Go to Device Manager...do you have an entry for Universal Serial Bus Controllers ? What is listed there ?

Thanks for the replies guys. Yes to pretty much all those questions. I have already installed the drivers and the usb is enabled in the bios, it is just that the wizard does not seem to recognise the units signiture so does not know to use the driver.
