unInstalling XP!

hi im trying to unInstall XP and then re-install win2k pro. Now i tried usingosuninst.exe and also tried removing the program through add remove programs!! in dos mode..its says that it cannot un-install xp because necessary registry info is missing and using the 'add remove programs' does not show the windows xp program!! i need help...should i use format c:\, and if so...what would i need as backups? xp boot disks? will my cd rom still work if i boot after format c: to pick up win2k pro???????

format your computer and use a bootdisk that allows you to boot from a cd-rom and then install win2k......and if you need any files backed up put them onto disk before formatting

As there i sno uninsrtall of WinXP to Win2k due to their similar code base. The install of Windows 2K after backing up data is the only option, not just the best one
