uninstalling win98 backup for winxp

i´ve resently installed winxp and I was thinking if it were ok to uninstall win98 now as it is only a backup!!! When I go to add-remove programs and choose to uninstall winxp, a poppup window asks if I whant to uninstall winXP OR the old os (win98) the backup, just whant to be sure this is safe!!! Thanks.
