Comment:
One of the first things I do with a new computer or a fresh install of XP is to uninstall messenger, I use the "edit sysoc.inf method".
Well, after installing SP3, my favorite little program was back. When I went to the "remove windows components" section, the 2 check boxes (created by the sysoc.inf edit) were both still unchecked.
I Googled for info on uninstalling messenger in SP3 but couldn't find anything specific to SP3
What I decided to try was checking both boxes, restarting, and then unchecking them again, hoping that would uninstall it.
What I found was that after checking both boxes and restarting, messenger was gone :) must be some kind of flaw/glitch with the check boxes.
I wanted some thoughts on this and to create a post answering the question for other people with the same problem.
Thanks,
