Hi I want to know where I can get Media Player 8 becuase I want to unistall media player that came with xp which is media player 8. but i can only find media player 7 on places such as download.com. the reason im doing this is for another problem where i cannot play anytype of movie clips because i selected the clips to be played on ie broswer which is like combination of ie and media player instead of media player alone. i knwo it sounds confusing but can u tell me how i can uninstall media player 8 and then find media player 8 so i can reinstall it. thanks.

you can't uninstall it. even sp1, which is supposed to allow you to do that, won't let you do it (it only hides it from you so you think it's gone).

why not try start->control panel->folder options->file types, then go to .mpg, .avi, etc and change them back to wmp?

OR: Open windows media player, click tools->options->file types, and click the file extensions there so WMP reclaims those file types

OR: Go to IE and disable the media bar
