A few things:

1. My computer was acting funny so i went and ran a full virus scan in safemode and came up with 27 viruses all loaded into the same folder "C:\Documents and Settings\Ronnie\Application Data\Sun\Java\Deployment\cache\javapi\v1.0\jar". So I try and let my virusscanner erase them but they are unable to erase. I go to just uninstall the Sun Java program and it says that I cannot install it (when I'm clearly not trying to install anything).

Any ideas on how to uninstall them (i allready dled the new verson like somone suggested in 3 simular posts but that didnt help anything).

2. Sun Java seems to be clearly a scam program. Anyone have any ideas on a good place to dl java runtime enviornments? (I dont use them terribly often, but its nice to be able to when i need to).

you can either rebuild your computer, if you have a cd version of xp that can do that, use system restore and go back to a point before the viruses were on the system, or go through the regestry, using search, and pick out every referance to sunjava. ex: search for the folder containing the java installation.

before you do the later, though, be sure to back up your regestry, please.

sunjava is not a scam. it's probably the best java engine out there.

0. Download MoveOnboot.
1. Turn off system restore.
2. Use MoveOnboot to remove infected files.
3. Rescan the system to see if you're clean.
4. Re-enable system restore.

hi,
if sunjava is still installed go to the control panel double click the java icon go to the cache tab and clear it out.run your scans again then uninstall it and install msjava vm from here........ follow the instructions, you have to download older and new version of java its 2 files.

sunjava in my experience is virus prone and makes web browsing slow when you open java apps.
