Uninstalling from Device Manager

I need to uninstall a certain device from Device Manager. I right click the device in device manager, select uninstall, but get the message "Failed to uninstall the device. The device may be required to boot up the computer." Is there an alternative way of uninstalling this device? I have tried in Safe Mode and the same happens.

What certain device are you trying to uninstall? You don't uninstall devices from the DM panel! i_XpUser

Just disconnect it using Safely Remove Hardware from the systray. i_XpUser
