Hey guys!
I recently got attacked by massive spyware. I am mad :( It installed Lycos search and many retared online games, changed my homepage to some dirty site and also installed usless and possibly harmful programs. It all occured when i was vising a cd covers site and then a windows popup happend to show up saying i need to instert the Win xp disk or my PC wont start. I have a popup blocker so i thought it was legit. Nextr thing i know...popup and spyware everywhere. I ran spybot S&D i cleand it out, uninstalled the spyware files and ran cwshredder. I deleted one file in program files called "WebRebates" and then i see it in the Add/Remove section so i tryed to remove it but it gives me an error:
"error: could not execute Main: the system cannot find the file specified" so i was wondering how to get rid of it from Add/Remove section. Also is there anyway to see if im compleatly clean of all this spyware, cause i would hate to have it running in the back somewhere. Thank you guys soooo much!

I know the reason it cant be removed from the Add/Remove section is because i deleted it manually, but is there any other way of getting rid of it?

Ivo,

Here are the instructions from Microsoft for manually removing software from the add/remove list:

Be sure to backup your registry first if you are going to do this. I believe that Tweak UI has the capability to do this as well. You might want to check it out before manually editing the registry:

Hope this helps,

Jim
