hi. my teacher recently stopped using his laptop on the internet. so, he decided to uninstall norton internet security. he went through the uninstall, computer auotmatically restarted at the end of the process, when it went to boot back up, he gets the BSOD every time. He said he's still able to access the BIOS though, so the BSOD comes after that part of the start up. Thats basically all i know and im stumped. Could something have happened to the hard drive or a virus or something? thx for any help

Read up on how to do a system repair using the original XP CD. May be easier to do a full clean install from the OEM CD/DVD's unless you have data on it that you wish to save.
I read it wrong and answer it wrong too. So get off my case you goober.

Your teacher should have gone to the Norton web site "Symantec" and download the hawkins tool ,it removes the virus definition folder I believe ,the regular uninstall option does not remove all traces of Norton from your sysyem ,can he open in safe mode and download the tool from there ? Or perhaps having someone put it on a thumb drive and run it from that on his PC may get him back on track ,if he can open it safe mode I would suggest doing a system restore first ,then try the hawkins tool a free download off symantec's web site !
Good Luck ,Nick
