hello,
as i am planning on buying kapersky antivirus i downloaded the trial version to try it out. it wont run with avg so i tried to uninstall avg but when i try to install kapersky it again tells me that i must uninstall avg(which i've done)
i assume theres no way the full version will work now unless i find out whats wrong.

i have done a search for avg files with the search tool and a lot of pf files turned up but im afraid to delete these in case they have nothing to do with avg ..I appreciate any suggestions

Why would you pay for Kapersky? If you don't like AVG, try Avast!

Reinstall AVG, then uninstall it again. Reboot, then use CCleaner to cleanup the mess afterwards. Run both the cleaner & the resigtry scan. Remove everything it finds. Reboot & run it one more time to be sure. And once you have it, use it regularly.

NOTE: when you install CCleaner, make sure to uncheck the box next to Yahoo toolbar.

You should never run two Anti-virus applications simultaneously as they will interfere with each other. Kapersky know this that is why it told you to un-install AVG. Almost all decent AV applications will attempt to detect the presence of another AV application and tell you to get rid of it.

Use this to cleanup the install in the registry. Free and safe.

late reply here but here goes anyway...i tried the revouninstaller and I am still getting the same message to uninstall avg when i try to install kapersky .i installed avg, then uninstalled it and ran revouninstall...but im still having the same problems...also adaware will not complete its scanning ,it gets stuck after a few minutes...im convinced theres a crafty virus preventing this(i tried repAIRING and reinstalling but no luck. Im at work now but am off tomorrow and will have more time to play around and make sure i'm using the revo program right.
I should add that i ran avast and it did not find any problems, also spybot search and destroy found nothing.

anyway thank you for all your suggestions everyone, great site here.
