uninstallation of xp for 98

I want to play many of my older dos-based games and haven't been able to get the 'fixes' for xp that have been suggested to work so i just want to uninstall xp and reinstall 98....
my problem is that xp came with this computer and i didn't have an xp cd, ever....so how do i format the drive and install my old 98?
and the 98 cd doesn't seem to want to install over xp....

Make sure you really want to do this....
Your hard drive is probably NTFS formatted; Win98 does not recognize NTFS.
Start your computer with a boot disk, and run fdisk to delete the partition. Recreate a partition and format it...
P.S. I'd recommend partitioning your hard drive, instead of deleting Windows XP. Look at http://www.petri.co.il/install_win98_after_xp.htm for info on installing Win98 after WinXP

have you tried running the games under compatibility mode?
create a shortcut to the *.exe file you run the start the game, then in 'properties' for the shortcut, you'll find compability mode
