I just found out that XP- SP2's firewall
isnot the same as Internet Connection Firewall
of ealier versions.

But my question remains the same.

Thanks for reply

No it is not possible to install the XP Firewall. Even though you have disabled it, there are still elements of it in use.

Windows loads a temporary firewall during the boot up process to protect the computer until such times as a full firewall is loaded. This protects the computer during the boot process and is stopped once the boot process is complete or a full firewall is loaded, either a third party one or the full windows firewall.

Possibly:

although it is generally considered to be a permanent feature of XP (following sp2) and thus cannot be uninstalled?

Thanks trvlr and StuartS !

i disabled the XP-SP2 firewall
and installed Comodo (firewall)

looks ok (without any trouble so far)

Comodo has outbound traffic blocked
which is better firewalling imho
