undetected ram

OS: winxp
CPU/Ram: p4 2.0 256 ram

I bought a packard bell p.c a year ago and on the specs its says it has 256mb of ram, however, when I look in the bios and in system properties it says 192mb of ram, but when I look in help and support/tools/general system info, it says that I have 256mb .What I want to know is , why does the system properties say 192 mb ?

Get AIDA32 from google. It is about the most reliable program for sysinfo I have found.

I have just tried aida32 and it reports that I have 191mb of ram, Why is this , it should be 256mb , like the general system info says

I would guess AIDA is reading from BIOS. Not familiar with Packard Bell. May be a legacy setup in the bios.

192+64 meg of shared graphics memory = 256.

yeah, is your video card an onboard one that uses main RAM instead of its own RAM?
