Undeletable Virus

I have a virus called "xxomrg.exe" in my Windows/System32 folder. I have AVG and it couldnt get rid of it. I tried to delete it manually but since it was in the Windows folder I couldnt delete it. Is there anything I can do?

Why can you not delete it? You should be able to delete many faile in Windows\System32 folder.
Right click on the file and open Properties. Looking on the General tab, make sure Read-Only is not checked. If your file system is NTFS, you should see a Security tab also in Properties. Look to see if you have rights(permissions) to the file and/or folder and try to set them if you don't.

Get MoveOnBoot from google. Free. It will delete before XP loads on the next boot.

Avast! free home edition is the the best FREE AV I've used....works great ...free on-line up-dates and e-mail tech support. I've used Norton, McCafee and AVG and this is the best one I've ever used....the choice is yours. Avast found 2 major viruses that AVG missed. Free-ware does not advertise...it's word of mouth....but sometimes FREE is better.

Boot in 'safe mode' and then try to delete the infected file. As this isn't loaded in memory you should have no problem.
