Unauthorized product key to activate win xp

Specs: Windows XP HOME

I JUST DID A CLEAN WINDOWS XP INSTALLATION ON MY MOM'S LAPTOP... THE PRODUCT KEY I USED, WORDED FOR INSTALLATION, BUT NOT TO ACTIVATE IT ONLINE.

Then you have a counterfeit copy of XP. Note that it is considered "shouting" and "bad manners" to post in upper case. Contact Microsoft for instructions on obtaining a genuine key for your copy.

You don't have a counterfeit copy of XP, you have an unauthorize product key. Apparently the key has been used before?

Get Microsofts key updater...free...legal...and easy to use. Google microsoft key updater. Will activate your system if you use one key to install and the key on computer to update. Must be a pro key if pro installed or home if home installed.

if the key has been used twice it come up as not activatable. You can talk to MS via their free toll free number.

How to activate Windows XP by phone
To contact a Microsoft customer service representative to activate Windows by phone, follow these steps:
Click Start, point to All Programs, point to Accessories, point to System Tools, and then click Activate Windows.

Or, click the Windows Activation icon in the notification area.
Click Yes, I want to telephone a customer service representative to active Windows now.
Click Read the Windows Product Activation Privacy Statement, click Back, and then click Next.
Follow the steps in the Activate Windows by phone dialog box, and then click Next.

Note The number appears now and differs based on the location that you select.
When activation is completed and you receive the following message, click OK.
You have successfully activated your copy of Windows.
