Subject: Unattended installation help!OS: XP Pro SP2CPU/Ram: P4 2.6GHz |
Comment: I'm trying to create an unattended installation that moves my \Documents and Settings\ folder to my D: drive. I've done this before by using the Deploy.cab facility from Microsoft and saving the file as winnt.sif which worked a treat. Now however I'm using a version of Windows XP that has a strict txtsetup.sif file! This means If I include winnt.sif then the txtsetup.sif file is ignored in favour of the new one. If however I save the file as the more common unattend.txt then THAT file gets ignored! All I want to do is move the D&S folder to a different partition, can someone please help with this? Cheers in advance.

Reply: (edit)Mike Halsey, not positive about this, but I suspect that Windows gets it's panties in a bunch if you try to delete the folder as it may be a Windows file. What happens if you simply copy rather than move? As updates occur, new copies would reflect that. HTH. Ed in Texas.

Reply: (edit)If you move that folder you would probbaly need to install the OS on the D drive instead of on your C drive. Oh, and the "Winnt.sif" files work just fine in an unattended installation (I use one just about every other day to do installs)...
