Unable to view videoclip files..

OS: WinXPpro
CPU/Ram: AMD2.2XP, 512DDRram

I just installed WINXP PRO and did all the updates including Windows Media Player 9
But I am still unable to view videoclip files I downloaded from the net....I can view mpeg movie files
I have then selected all filetypes in properties in Windows media player. I even tried an update of Windows media player but was told I have the latest version
Any help please

What is the extension on the video files? Might need to download the free Quicktime player

I think your are missing video codecs that are NOT provided by microsoft.

I'm guessing you need mpeg4 layer codecs like XViD and DivX to play those "ahem!" movies you downloaded off (you know where).

Any-who have a look at the site below, your encoded movies will play perfectly :D

Its an .avi file
I was able to view these files with Windows media player when I had WIN98SE ??
