Hello all,

Please help me with my problem!!

After a series of playing around with dual-booting and setting partition tables, I finally messed my computer up and forced me to do a format to my main system drive.

Prior to the mess up though, I did a backup of "My Documents" folder to an external HDD.

After reinstalling Windows XP SP3, I no longer able to access that backup folder! :(

I get the message "Access Denied"

After doing a bit of search and attempting to apply the solution as linked here,

http://www.defectivekit.net/2007/03...

It didn't work and I got the error message,

"Unable to set new owner on My Documents", "Access Denied".

What is wrong here???

Please help me to gain access back to my documents! I thought backing it up would have saved me, but I was wrong.

Thank you!

Temjin

Hi fregjo,

Nope, I have similar problems with the OP in that link.

I cannot take ownership of that folder, in fact, I just realised I
could not do the same for "certain" other folders that were
"recently" created prior to the creation of a new duel boot
operating system.

These "folders", located in my external HDD, seem to have
corrupted it. I can no longer create any new files/folders in the
external HDD, but can read/copy all the other folders.

So the problem seem to be with these specific folders/files
created during the duel boot operating system.

I've tried everything to take ownership, but does not seem to
work.

Is there another solution to this? Would data backup
softwares able to retrieve those information? what softwares
do you recommend?

Thanks alot again.

Temjin
