Unable to Send/Receive in Outlook

A few days ago, I tried to backup my outlook.pst and I accidentally changed the attribute to of "read-only". So when the next time I restarted my Outlook 2002 (comes with my Office XP), it says I don't have the permission to access the outlook.pst. I managed to solve the problem after I unchecked the "read-only". So now I am able to view my current emails. However I am not able to Send/Receive emails. The quirk is I am nevertheless able to send emails out, but not receive. So when I click on Send/Receive, I have this error message "You don't have the appropriate permission to perform this operation".
I have even installed the two latest Office XP service packs and still the problem of not able to have the right permission to receive emails. Please help. Thanks

Try checking under the security tab in the properties for the pst file. Make sure you have full control of it (i.e. that all 5 "allow" boxes are ticked).
If all else fails you could export all your e-mails to Outlook Express, remove and reinstall Outlook then restore all your emails again. It doesn't take that long, I've done it a few times in my work.

I have not been able to locate the security tab yet. I think it's probably because I am running outlook as a personal copy not on a network.
I'll try exporting to Outlook Express in that case. Hope this works.
