Unable to save or open images.

Since last Saturday, I've been unable to save any images, or open ones that I have already saved. When I right click on an image and click Save, nothing happens. I can copy the picture to Paint and Photoshop, but when I try to save, Paint closes and Photoshop just sits there. When I click Open in Paint it also closes. I can open pictures that are listed in the File option but none in my folders. The problem is the same if I go through My Computer. When I try to open an image, My Computer crashes. A friend thought I had a virus. A couple of days ago I completely wiped my laptop of any viruses, but the problem is still there. Please, if anyone has any information to help me I'll be eternally grateful.
